Build Diary Index

The parts I had ordered from Freckleton Rover Centre arrived and although in reasonable condition needed plenty of replacement parts which were ordered from Rimmer Bros. One item I was struggling to find on their site was details of the fixing between the gearbox shaft and gear stick selector on the SD1 section. After a bit of searching I found that the TR7 section shows the gear selector parts in greater detail.

Engine mounts before and after blasting and a coat of paint     Gear stick remote cleaned, polished and painted     slave cylinder painted with new push rod and retaining clip     empty garage - hopefully not for much longer !

Dax have confirmed the build date as during w/c 7th April, 3 weeks later than originally programmed. It does mean however that it will be ready for collection on the Dax open day on Good Friday ! Still no confirmation of the total package price yet, despite a discussion with Brian Johns and another copy of the list being sent.

After a few phone calls and e-mails, Dax agreed to provide a £600 discount if all parts were bought together ( about 5% ) of the total cost. Whilst I'm sure I would still be able to save a bit more than that buying from other sources, it made the Dax option more favourable and meant less hassle. I'm still apprehensive about the Dax exhaust system given the feedback from others but will have to wait and see. So another cheque sent off as a further deposit plus £400 as a deposit for the Image wheels.

The baffled sump I had ordered from Abbey Sportscars a few weeks ago arrived. To say it was fabricated from a second hand sump you can't tell. The photo below shows the original sump on the left and the baffled sump on the right. I also took the opportunity to take photos of the cars internals from beneath. Hopefully I shouldn't need to see the inside again !
